Remember ESPN wants that 9th conference game.
It was part of the negotiation with Swofford last summer, and he tried to reach agreement at the fall meeting to add it. It was voted down again because the four members with SEC in state rivals did not want it on top of the Notre Dame games.
This proposed arrangement with UConn would allow the ACC to add it without making all members play it every year. Only half the members would play it, and it could be coordinated to not have to overlap with Notre Dame games.
That would satisfy ESPN, satisfy the ACC members who don't want a ninth conference game, and be good positioning. The ACC and ESPN would just have to negotiate with UConn for the 7 game broadcasts. Then if we get 16 more ACC basketball games for ESPN, it is a win for everyone. [Post edited by HOO86 at 02/13/2017 6:01PM]
